How can we bridge the Clinical Trial Conversation Gap?

The Webinar Journey & Purpose

Webinar Topic: “Asking Your Doctor About Clinical Trials: Bridging the Clinical Trial Conversation Gap”.

The clinical trial conversation gap represents a critical missed opportunity for exchanging vital information that could transform a patient’s healthcare journey and treatment outcomes. It may occur for a variety of reasons including but not limited to patients  feeling uncomfortable about speaking up in medical settings. They see doctors as authority figures and fear their questions might be perceived as challenging their doctor’s expertise or recommendations. Clinicians are faced with overwhelming clinical workloads which can create time pressure in daily practice and may present as a barrier to engaging with patients in meaningful discussions about clinical trials. Clinicians sometimes also lack information about available clinical trials or harbor uncertainties about trial processes, hindering their confidence to discuss trials or make referrals.

This webinar aims to explore the barriers from both a patient and clinician perspective and to look at how we can build bridges between clinicians and patients in the clinical trial conversation.

By bridging this communication gap, we can help build a more responsive and patient-centred healthcare system that benefits everyone. Exploring how we can empower patients to confidently review all treatment options whilst also supporting clinicians in having meaningful discussions with their patients about clinical trials.

This webinar was held online on Tuesday, May 20, at 5pm for International Clinical Trials Day and participate in our White Coats Foundation webinar
