This webinar aims to explore how we can empower patients to confidently explore all treatment options whilst also supporting clinicians in having meaningful discussions with their patients about clinical trials. By bridging this communication gap, we can help build a more responsive and patient-centered healthcare system that benefits everyone. Help us strengthen the vital connection between patients and clinicians in clinical trial conversations by joining the discussion this International Clinical Trials Day. This webinar was held online on Tuesday, May 20, at 5pm for International Clinical Trials Day and participate in our White Coats Foundation webinar.
Despite the increased emphasis on involving patients and the public in trial design, there is no systematic or standardised means of capturing participants’ experiences in clinical research. Routinely assessing participant experiences can help provide measurable benchmarks for: - the ‘participant-centredness’ of current trials - areas that warrant future attention - a better understanding of what is needed for participant-centric research how to improve recruitment and retention to clinical trials. WCF acknowledges there are a number of institutions developing and implementing site specific surveys to evaluate the participant experience in research. How do we harmonise efforts to collect data that will help build a national picture on the participant experience in research for the benefit of sites, sponsors and patients? This webinar, held on October 16, 2024, starts a discussion on a way forward.

🩺 This International Clinical Trials Day (and every day), let's keep telling our stories, having conversations and raising awareness about clinical trials and their role in health care. WCF thanks all those who've shared their stories for Your Voice Your Story since 2021. 💛 Happy ICTD24!
WCF celebrated and acknowledged #ICTD2023 with our Your Voice Your Story webinar. Everyone's views are shaped by their experience, and it is this lived experience and unique voice that is essential to guiding how we innovate the development of new treatments. Lots of key themes emerged today around the positive aspects of clinical trials- hope, time, options, but also the challenges associated with them- eligibility, access, timing and gatekeepers of information. The discussion today reinforced the areas we need to keep pushing hard in to ensure no one is denied access to options. We would like to thank all the amazing presenters who shared their stories this morning, and all that attended the session. Your Voice, Your Story, now in its third year, has become part of our annual events calendar and all images submitted are displayed in our online gallery.
Last year The White Coats Foundation ran a 2-part webinar series on “De-mystifying consumer and community involvement in research. As part of the outcomes of this series we produced a reflections paper and looked at the gaps/areas requiring further discussion and reflection. We sent out a poll to determine which areas were of greatest interest for inclusion in the 2022 White Coats Foundation Education webinar agenda. One of the top 3 topics was- ‘What is consumer-led research? In our first webinar series we learned that consumer and community involvement is where consumers and the community actively work with researchers or research organisations to help shape decisions about health research priorities, policy and practice But what is consumer-led research and how is it different to consumer involvement? On Wednesday the 13th July we heard from a variety of stakeholders about what ‘consumer-led’ research means to them. The webinar included a discussion that brought some clarity to the definition of ‘consumer-led’ research.
Your Voice Your Story webinar has some wonderful " storytellers" talking about their connection to clinical trials and what clinical trials mean to them. Conducted on International Clinical Trials on May 20th 2022, this webinar had some very special stories, and shared heartfelt experiences. WCF thanks all that participated.
