International Clinical Trials Day 2025
International Clinical Trials Day, observed annually on May 20, commemorates the inception of clinical research by James Lind in 1747, who conducted the first controlled clinical trial aboard the HMS Salisbury to identify a remedy for scurvy among sailors. This day serves to honor the invaluable contributions of clinical research professionals, patients and all those involved in advancing medical science to improve healthcare and patient outcomes. The theme for 2025, “Rethinking Clinical Trials: Inclusivity in Practice,” underscores the critical importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion in clinical research. Emphasising inclusivity ensures that clinical trials are representative of all populations, leading to more generalisable and effective healthcare solutions.
In 2025, White Coats Foundation held a webinar and panel discussion on how we can discuss clinical trials with our doctors, specialists, and other clinicians. This session will be held on International Clinical Trials Day, May 20th at 5pm.
How can we bridge the Clinical Trial Conversation Gap?
This webinar aims to explore how we can empower patients to confidently explore all treatment options whilst also supporting clinicians in having meaningful discussions with their patients about clinical trials.
By bridging this communication gap, we can help build a more responsive and patient-centered healthcare system that benefits everyone. Help us strengthen the vital connection between patients and clinicians in clinical trial conversations by joining the discussion this International Clinical Trials Day.
This webinar was held online on Tuesday, May 20, at 5pm for International Clinical Trials Day and participate in our White Coats Foundation webinar.
As part of hosting this important webinar, the White Coats Foundation has also developed a companion report that captures key insights, discussion themes, and reflections shared by our expert panel. The report offers a deeper look into the barriers and opportunities in bridging the clinical trial conversation gap between patients and clinicians.
It serves as a free resource for healthcare professionals, policymakers, and advocates seeking to foster more informed, inclusive, and patient-centered conversations about clinical trials.
